Did you miss this week’s newsletter? After sharing the story of how I got my unexpected dream job, I’ve received such a wonderful response!

I’m losing the urge to publish every fleeting thought, revelation, or bit of advice. So this blog is probably going to stay a little quiet but for brief news updates. If you want to stay in touch and keep up with what I’m writing and doing, subscribe to the newsletter.

It’s free. No spam. Infrequent emails. You’ll love it.

Here’s a taste of this week’s check in:

First things first: I’m thinking about cutting my hair. Short. Really short.

You see, it gets tangled when I swim in the ocean, and the heat is too much for bangs since I moved to Florida. And I tend to cut it whenever my life changes in some major way.

Oh, god, let me back up. When’s the last time we talked? My goodness – we need to catch up!

Where I’ve Been

I’ve been awfully neglectful of my blog and newsletter for a while, and for a lot of reasons… There was a winter of self-indulgence, a spring of personal turmoil, a summer of soul searching, and this fall of new beginnings. And all the while, I’ve been stuck in this loop, asking “Who the hell am I?” and “Why am I doing anything I do?”

Struggling for the past couple of years with just where I want this writing thing to go, I’ve all but quit every project I ever started. I stopped publishing new writing advice at AWBL, I stopped pitching guest posts, I stopped promoting ebooks, I closed registration for my courses.

I took a job as a barista; I thought that’s what I’d be doing for the next couple of years as I figure this thing out.

And then life handed me this wonderful gift.
